An epic landscape of Mongolia, birth place of Chinggis Khan /Genghis khan/
For the Mongols, this is the holy place, especially The Mt. Burkhan Khaldun which is related to Chinggis Khan, as his reputed burial site and more widely with his establishment of the Great Mongol Empire in 1206. It is one of the four sacred mountains he declared during his lifetime. And as part of the official status he gave to the traditions of mountain worship, based on long standing shamanic traditions of nomadic Mongols.

Deluun Boldog – The Birthplace of Chinggis Khaan. The Great Burkhan Khaldun Mountain has few structures, the three major stone ovoo-s alongside paths connected to a pilgrimage route.
River Onon. Flows from the permanently snow-capped mountains feed significant rivers flowing both to the north and south. High up the mountains are forests and lower down mountain steppe.
Chinggis Town, Khentii Province of Mongolia
The town is located 290 km east of Ulaanbaatar. The Mongolian Parliament, State Great Khural, renamed the city Chinggis City in 2013 in honor of Genghis Khan, who was born and possibly buried in the same province north of the city. population of roughly 15,000 persons and serves as the capital of the Khentii Aimag (province). One of Mongolian ethnic Buryad people lives north of Khentii province.
The province contains “The Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area”, is a 12,270 km2 (4,740 sq mi), designated by the Mongolian government as wildlife preservation areas. Herding and tourism are tightly controlled, and hunting and mining are prohibited. However, the budget for maintaining and protecting these areas is quite small.

Eastern Mongolia is the Land of Horses
Nowhere are horses more important to daily life than in Mongolia. Mongolia is known as the land of the horse, and Mongols have a reputation for being the best horsemen on Earth. “It is not possible to imagine Mongolian history without horses,” Over the centuries, using chariots as well as mounted warriors, nomadic armies of Mongols. This tradition and culture has been kept to the 21st centurey and the Eastern Mongolia is known as the main region of the horses. If you travel to Mongolia and wish to experience horseback riding, you should visit this less discovered region.
